About the Founder: Roz Chapman

Roz Chapman brings a diverse background of service and professional expertise to 20th Century Artifacts.   Her career began with six years of service in the Australian Army, from 1980 to 1986, followed by nearly two decades as a Computer Programmer working initially for IBM, followed by 14 years at General Electric.   These roles established a lifelong commitment to discipline, technical precision, and transparent conduct.

For 23 years, she has operated within the antiques and old wares trade, specialising in the preservation and curation of historical items.   After moving to Tasmania in 2003, Roz  realised a lifelong dream by opening 20th Century Artifacts at 56 High Street in New Norfolk.   When the unprecedented global lockdowns of 2020 arrived, her professional background in computing allowed her to pivot quickly, creating the online store you see here today.

In addition to her professional retail work, Roz is deeply involved in the New Norfolk community.   She serves as the Station Manager and technical support for the local community radio station.

She also helps write, produce and direct the annual Christmas Pantomime for the local amateur theatre group.

Roz has been a member of Rotary International for 12 years, adhering to the organisation's ethical standards in both her professional and volunteer roles.

Her interest in history led to her current passion project - as founder and lead researcher for the New Norfolk Retail & Commercial History Project, which can be found at www.newnorfolk.org.
